Introduction: A world (wide web) of application advice
Google "MS in US" and you get a barrage of results; from bloodthirsty counselling services to student blogs to portals running cool admission-analytics. Is this blog going to be more of the same? Probably. Will it help your application? I should think so! Some background: When I first considered applying for masters, I was in the final year of engineering. Giving the GRE seemed to be the popular thing to do in 3rd year, but I somehow didn't fall prey to the peer pressure then. I finally gave a botched shot at the GRE at the fag end of college and took it as a sign to work for a bit and get some industry experience before applying. One dissatisfying year later, I quit my lack-lustre corporate job, re-scheduled my GRE and finally decided to take the plunge.
